Haeundae Family Hotel, Busan, Korea: Westin Josun Review

For our trip with our child, I chose a Busan family hotel right by the beach: The Westin Josun Busan. That would be our home base for this part of the trip.
Our itinerary took us from Seomyeon to Haeundae in Busan, South Korea.

Here’s what stood out about the Westin Josun.
It’s right on Haeundae Beach and connects to Dongbaek Island, making walks with a child wonderfully easy.
With an indoor swimming pool and a separate children’s pool, it also worked well for a family stay.

The rooms and building do show their age compared with newer hotels,
but after staying here myself, the location, pool, breakfast options, and overall serviceleft a strong impression.

If you’re planning a trip to Haeundae with kids, this hotel is worth adding to your shortlist.

Busan Family Hotel Essentials: The Westin Josun

The biggest selling point of The Westin Josun Busan is undoubtedly its location. That really makes the difference here.
We wanted to spend time on Haeundae Beach,
so we chose the Westin Josun for its easy beach access.

I’d previously stayed at Paradise Hotel Busan, too,
but here, the sea really felt right on our doorstep.

Once again, I booked our Westin Josun Busan stay through Yeogi Eottae.
It’s the Korean travel-booking platform I use for most of my hotel reservations.
I sometimes find slightly lower rates there than on other sites,
so I’m sharing the link in case you’d like to compare prices.

Haeundae Beach is directly in front of the hotel, while Dongbaek Island connects on the other side—an ideal setup for an easy walk with a child.

Being able to enjoy the sea and take a stroll without getting in the car was especially convenient on a family trip.

An Older Busan Hotel That’s Well Maintained

The Westin Josun Busan isn’t a new hotel, and you can see its age in parts of the rooms and building.

It doesn’t have the flashy, trendy feel of Haeundae’s newer hotels, but everything was maintained well enough that its age didn’t really bother me.
The staff were friendly, too.
They even brought all our luggage up from the lobby to our room.

There’s a calm, classic atmosphere here, and the service felt consistently dependable.
Our room was a comfortable place to unwind, and staying there with our child was straightforward.

Guest Rooms: Classic Rather Than Cutting-Edge

The rooms definitely don’t have that brand-new-hotel feel.
The interiors show some age, but everything was clean and well cared for, so it wasn’t an issue during our stay.

If you prefer a quieter, more traditional hotel atmosphere over eye-catching design, you may appreciate it.
Traveling with a child, I cared more about the bed, cleanliness, location, and facilities than the decor—and those things delivered.

Easy Family Walks Right on Haeundae Beach

This was one of my favorite parts of staying here with our child.
Step outside and you’re at Haeundae Beach, making it easy to pop out to see the sea in the morning or evening.

Head out from the LL level,
and you have direct access to the beach.

Our child absolutely loves playing in the sand.
A beach trip is our chance to really make the most of that,
so giving our child plenty of time to dig and play
was part of the reason I booked the Westin Josun.

Long journeys can quickly wear out both kids and parents, so what I appreciated about the Westin Josun was being able to enjoy walks and ocean views right around the hotel. It made everything that much easier.

The Indoor Pool Our Child Loved

If you’re staying at The Westin Josun Busan with kids, the pool deserves a spot on your itinerary.

I was a little disappointed that there was only an indoor pool,

but being indoors means you can swim with far less concern about the season or weather. There’s also a separate children’s pool, which made it a good fit for swimming with our child.

In hindsight, an outdoor pool probably would have felt too cold.

Another perk for hotel guests:
unlimited pool access.
Our child loves swimming,
so I was particularly happy about that.

We used the pool twice:

once after checking in,
and once before checking out.

Thanks to our Marriott Bonvoy benefits,
we received a late checkout until 2 p.m.

The pool’s listed operating hours are 6 a.m.–10 p.m.,with maintenance closures during the following times:
11:30 a.m.–12:30 p.m.
6–7 p.m.
It’s also listed as closed on the second Tuesday of every month, so check before your visit.

Children under 12 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.

Haeundae Beach Views from the Pool

The pool itself was enjoyable, but at The Westin Josun Busan, those Haeundae views were a real highlight. They made the experience feel special.

Swimming indoors while looking out at the sea gives this space a very different feel from a typical hotel pool.

I loved taking a break from swimming with our child and looking out over Haeundae. We didn’t even need to leave the hotel to feel like we were on a proper getaway.

Rather than packing every day of our Busan trip with sightseeing, it was lovely to slow down and spend time at the pool.

Breakfast at Camellia

The hotel’s buffet restaurant is Camellia.
We were given information about breakfast,
but since we were in Busan,

we wanted to visit Geodae Gomtang for gomtang, a slow-simmered Korean beef soup.
So we happily skipped the hotel breakfast.

Breakfast hours: 6:30–10 a.m.
The currently listed walk-in breakfast prices are
$47 per adult
and $26 per child.
It’s definitely on the pricier side.

Hotel Parking and Valet Service

We drove to the hotel, and having parking on-site kept things easy.
Hotel guests can use self-parking,or opt for valet parking if they’re arriving with kids and plenty of luggage.

Marriott’s official website currently lists valet parking at $23 per stay. That’s the published rate.

Between suitcases and all the extra things kids need, families with lots of bags may find valet parking worthwhile.

Valet fees and credit-card perks can change, so I recommend checking the details before using the service.

Pack Your Toothbrush and Other Toiletries

At The Westin Josun Busan, disposable items such as toothbrushes, toothpaste, and razors are not currently provided free of charge.
Pack toothbrushes and toothpaste for the adults as well as the kids.
There’s already a lot to remember when traveling with children, so add these to your pre-trip checklist.

What Worked Well for Our Family

1. The location right on Haeundae Beach
You can step outside to see the sea and easily walk over to Dongbaek Island.
2. The indoor swimming pool and children’s pool
Being able to enjoy the water with our child regardless of the weather was a big plus.
4. A 2 p.m. checkout through Marriott Bonvoy
That gave us plenty of time to have breakfast and get ready with our child.
The standard checkout time is noon.
5. Plenty to enjoy around the hotel
We could explore both Haeundae and Dongbaek Island without constantly getting in the car, which made our family itinerary much easier.

What Could Be Better

My biggest reservation was the price.
It’s a bit more expensive than some other hotels.

Busan Family Hotel Verdict: The Westin Josun with Kids

For this trip to Busan with our child, we stayed at The Westin Josun Busan. Here’s my final take.
After experiencing it for ourselves, the biggest advantages were the beachfront Haeundae location and the indoor pool. Those were the standouts.

Oh, and it’s close to The Bay 101, too.

Being able to step outside to the sea and walk to Dongbaek Island made planning our days with a child so much simpler.
The separate children’s pool was great for water play, too.

The dated touches in the rooms and the breakfast prices were drawbacks, but the upkeep, service, and location made this a thoroughly satisfying stay overall.

If you’d rather not spend your entire Busan trip rushing between attractions, and instead want to swim with your child, walk along Haeundae Beach, and relax at the hotel, this could be a very good fit.

Its appeal isn’t the glamour of a brand-new property. It’s the atmosphere of a long-established Haeundae hotel paired with an excellent location.

For us, The Westin Josun Busan was a Busan family hotel that worked beautifully for a trip to Haeundae with our child.
